Restore comfort, movement, and confidence after caesarean birth
At Empower Osteopathy Gold Coast, our individualised C-section scar release treatment supports both the function and appearance of your scar, helping you feel more connected, comfortable, and confident in your body.
Whether you are weeks or years postpartum, this treatment is designed to gently restore movement, reduce restriction, and support long-term recovery
Why C-Section Scar Release Matters
A caesarean scar is not just surface-level, it can affect the deeper layers of fascia, muscles, and even how your core functions.
Without treatment, scar tissue may contribute to:
Tightness, pulling, or restriction through the lower abdomen
“Mummy tummy” or difficulty engaging your core
Numbness, sensitivity, or discomfort around the scar
Lower back, pelvic, or hip pain
A scar that appears raised, indented, or uneven
Our approach focuses on integrating the scar back into your body, so it no longer feels like a point of tension or disconnection.
C-Section Scar Treatment: What We Do
1. Myofascial Release and Massage
This gentle, hands-on therapy works on the fascia, the connective tissue that surrounds muscles and organs. Myofascial release can help soften and mobilise scar tissue, reducing pain and improving range of motion.
3. Gua Sha
Specialised tools may be used to assist in breaking down adhesions and improving tissue glide and circulation.
4. Cupping Therapy
Cupping can lift and separate layers of tissue, reducing adhesions and improving blood flow to the area.
5. Scar Release Exercises and Stretching
Specific movements and stretches can help restore mobility and function while preventing excessive tightening of the scar tissue.
6. Dry Needling
Dry needling can be used to address deeper restrictions within the scar and surrounding tissues, helping to reduce persistent tension and improve tissue integration.
The Benefits of Scar Release Therapy
This treatment supports both how your body feels and how your scar looks.
Many women experience:
Reduced pain and discomfort
Improved mobility and flexibility
A softer, flatter, more mobile scar
Reduced puckering, indentation, or raised areas
Improved core strength and connection
Better posture and movement patterns
Reduced lower back, pelvic, or hip discomfort
Greater confidence and connection with their body
When to Consider Scar Release Therapy
If your scar feels tight, uncomfortable, or affects your movement, it may be time to seek treatment.
You may benefit if:
Your scar feels restricted, numb, or sensitive
You notice pulling with movement or exercise
Your lower abdomen feels weak or disconnected
You have ongoing back, hip, or pelvic discomfort
You are unhappy with the appearance of your scar
For early recovery, it is best to wait until your incision has fully healed (typically around 6–8 weeks postpartum and medically cleared). However, treatment can be highly effective months or even years after your C-section.
This treatment is most effective as part of a short course of care. We typically recommend 3–5 sessions, spaced 1–2 weeks apart, to support optimal healing, mobility, and aesthetic outcomes.
